GEMMA GARY - WITHCRAFT & CUNNING IN CORNWALL

Welcome to my website. I live in Penwith at the far western end of Cornwall where I work as a 'white witch' , artist, and crafts-person. Cornwall has a long history and tradition of village witchcraft, charming and cunning. Practitioners traditionally offered a range of services covering such areas as curse lifting, divination, healing, the provision of magical charms and substances and general guidance. Some practitioners were 'all rounders' whilst others speialised in one or more areas.

In my own Craft I specialise in the crafting of traditional charms and the preparation of magical powders and suffumigations (incenses) suitable for a range of needs. Often my work simply involves guidance, support and advice. Click here or visit the consultations page to find out more about my work as a witch.

A little more about me and this site...
I am part Romany and have lived in Cornwall since childhood. I have always had a deep love for the landscape here and as a child would prefer the company of animals and the land itself to that of other people. The spirit world always semed immanent and out in the land the natural surroundings had their own voices and wisdom to share. The Craft of the witch held a natural and inescapable draw for me; it is in the blood. I had studied alone for years, worked with witches from various traditions but always it was the older, 'traditional' path of witchcraft that called to me. Other traditional practitioners had tought me much and always the land has been my primary teacher. I was admited to a rather seretive coven of witch folk in Penwith and briefly went onto lead the group before leaving to found a 'new' traditional working group 'Bucca's Hearth' which operates today.

Whilst it is true that I am an intensly private and quiet person, true to my Aquarian nature I am also naturally caring, a deep thinker and have a desire to help people work through their problems.

A keen Pagan I am inolved with my local Pagan moot and a lover of our ancient sites I am a committee member of CASPN (Cornish Ancient Sites Protection Network) where I help maintain their website and have designed their logo and signage layout (you may spot some of CASPN's granite signs at various ancient sites around Penwith.) I have also done design work for the Museum of Witchcraft located in Boscastle, North Cornwall and designed and help maintain their 'Friends' website.

The Museum is a valuable resource and an essential visit for anyone interested in the Craft of the Wise.

Due to the interest that exists in Cornish Witchcraft I have now put together a book on the subject which is due for publication this year.
