VIDEOS - PENGLAZ, BUCCA
and the PENZANCE SOLSTICES

Penglaz and 'The Bucca' visiting 'Mazey Eve' and 'Mazey Day', part of the Summer Solstice festivities of Penzance, West Cornwall, are shown in the two videos below. Penglaz is the town 'Obby 'Oss of Penzance, Cornwall UK. Appearing at Midsummer (Golowan) and at Midwinter (Montol) she represents for many the seasonal death & rebirth tides of the land. Led by the 'Teazer' known by some locally as The Bucca - a Cornish Pagan weather deity of light and dark aspect who presides over these seasonal energies being at Midsummer Bucca Gwidder (the white god) and at Midwinter Bucca Dhu (the black storm god). A tradition surrounded in secrecy, jealously guarded by the Penzance folk and safeguarded by the Penglaz Co-operative, formed by Cassandra Latham, who continues to perform, with great dedication, the role of Teazer and 'The Bucca'.
